- Artist's Statement -

I believe art serves several functions, but it's main purpose is to edify. Whether it edifies aesthetically or philosophically, it is art's first, best purpose. I have striven to make people aware of certain social issues I feel affect society and must be addressed.

Our society, in my opinion, has become so apathetic and self absorbed that we allow certain 'situations' to exist that will inevitably affect us all. I hope to address and illustrate these situations in my paintings and, by tearing down the wall of canvas that usually seems to exist between the viewer and the painting, force people to confront their choice to be apathetic.
